Learning and Control (LC) Lab

Shubhankar Mondal is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of New Mexico, specializing in Systems and Control. His research interests include control theory, reinforcement learning, and their applications to robotics, with a particular focus on quadruped and humanoid robotic systems, teleoperation, and intelligent autonomous control.

He earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Physics, a Bachelor of Technology in Instrumentation Engineering, and a Master of Technology in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from the University of Calcutta, India. Before beginning his doctoral studies, he worked as an Instrumentation Engineer and later as an Automation Engineer, gaining several years of practical experience in industrial control, process automation, system integration, and instrumentation.

His research seeks to bridge theoretical advances in control and learning with real-world robotic applications. He is interested in developing adaptive, robust, and intelligent control frameworks that improve the autonomy, dexterity, and teleoperation capabilities of next-generation quadruped and humanoid robots.
